Three Ingredient Dog Treats – Pumpkin Flour Peanut Butter Puppy Treats

This easy recipe makes a soft cookie our dog Caddis loves. Making dog treats from scratch allows you to control their size. These treats can be made smaller for training, or larger for special occasions. Moreover, making videos about dog treats allows you to post embarrassing photos of your dog. Its a great way to use up extra squash or pumpkin that you might have in your pantry, or straight out of the garden. Our dog has been known to help herself to baby squash and pumpkins out of the garden.

Ingredients

1 cup peanut butter 3.5 cups flour 2 cups squash or canned pumpkin puree

Instructions

  1. If you are using canned pumpkin, make sure that you get pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling. If you are using fresh squash or pumpkin, cut in half and gut. Place cut side down on a parchment lined cookie sheet and roast at 400 F for 45 minutes. remove from oven, allow to cool, then scrap from skins, mash and puree.

  2. Mix peanut butter, flour, and squash/pumpkin puree in a large mixing bowl. Get in there with your hands to really mix it up. Form a firm dough

  3. Divide dough into 4 balls to make it easier to work with and transfer to a floured surface.

  4. Using a rolling pin, flatten dough until it is about 2 mm thick.

  5. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters or cut into small squares using a knife

  6. Repeat until all the dough is used.

  7. Bake on a parchment lined cookie for in an oven that is preheated to 350 F for 10 minutes

  8. Let cool and then keep in the refrigerator or freeze.
